img_9718e264a554-1Ephesians 4:23 states that you and I should be renewed in the spirit of our mind. Why does our mind need to be continually renewed to the things of God? Because the mind is part of our soul which is left unregenerate when we were born again.

Man is a three part being. He has a spirit which gives life to his flesh which contains a soul. When we are born again, the Spirit of God quickens our spirit with the Holy Ghost. Our soul and flesh which are sold under sin remain in their unregenerate state. It is then our responsibility to yield to the Holy Ghost and let Him subdue our flesh and soul.

Our flesh will always be subject to sin, and it will corrupt our soul. That is why we will one day receive a glorified body free from the bondages of sin. Therefore we must be continually renewed in the spirit of our mind. The Greek tense used for the word renewed in this verse speaks of a continual ongoing action. In other words, every day our minds have to be renewed to God’s Word.

How are we renewed in the spirit of our mind? Glad you asked. It’s simple. Quit filling up with the world, and fill up with the Word. Now be honest. When was the last time you read your Bible? When was the last time you took some time and memorized some scripture?

For most of us, it’s been a long while since we have even read our Bible. That’s why we have no victory in our lives, and our minds constantly follow the ways of this world. Today, make a determined effort to get in the Word and renew your mind.
